A Saskatoon Success Story...

Patrick has been a lifelong resident of the Saskatoon-Humboldt Federal constituency. He is a bilingual 38 year-old, small business owner who is vibrant, well-respected and successful. He has provided employment for residents of this community for over 20 years. Patrick is dedicated to the growth and improvement of Saskatoon, of Saskatchewan and of Canada.

Patrick is an advocate within his community. His involvements through social housing, race relations and community-building committees only reinforce his commitment to creating a better society. Patrick’s lease-to-purchase program has encouraged neighbourhood stability and created home ownership for those families who would not accomplish this goal through traditional means. As a member of the City of Saskatoon’s Race Relations Committee, Patrick has experienced the benefits of communities working together. He has spent years working on an urban revitalization project in Pleasant Hill. Through this project the area of Pleasant Hill will be rejuvenated with safe community spaces and a source of pride for the surrounding neighbourhoods.

 

 

Canada Block and Park Committee – Founding Member and President. This group is dedicated to promoting local and Canadian history through the creation of a heritage park at Five Corners in Nutana. This committee is working on the creation of Canada’s first “flag block” in which each and every private home would proudly fly the Canadian Flag on a permanent basis.

Originator of Inner-city “Lease-to-Purchase” Home Ownership Projects – Home ownership opportunities provided for families that are not eligible for traditional methods of financing.

Community Activist in the Pleasant Hill Revitalization Program – Bringing together a diverse cross-section of individuals, community organizations, government and the private sector to find creative long-term solutions to revitalizing and redeveloping Saskatoon’s inner-city neighbourhood most in need.

 

Heritage Award Winner – Twice awarded for sympathetic renovations of a Nutana character house and building of a turn-of-the-century Victorian-styled period fence at the corner of Eastlake and 10th St. ”The Fence” garnered local and national attention with 1,622 people signing a petition to support Patrick’s efforts to recreate a part of our history.

Learning a New Language...

Patrick embarked on the challenging task of learning French at age 35. He traveled to Chicoutimi, Quebec where he studied the French language at the University of Quebec. While attending the University, Patrick met Nancy Côté, a professor of linguistics. Nancy has recently taught high school at the École canadienne-française in Saskatoon and was instrumental in implementing a successful rural education program through video-conferencing. Patrick and Nancy plan to wed.

Involvement in Politics...

Patrick has maintained an interest in politics for many years and has worked on a number of Federal and Provincial campaigns since 1988. He has been a member of the Liberal Party for 15 years and has a deep desire to represent the people of Saskatoon-Humboldt in Ottawa as a Member of Parliament. Because Patrick knows how to win, he continues to surround himself with a dynamic, diverse, and extremely capable team that is prepared to do the necessary work required for a victory.

The Beginning...

Patrick has always been a highly motivated and creative individual. As early as age six, Patrick expressed his spirit of entrepreneurialism. From odd jobs to selling greeting cards door-to-door, to working in the hospitality industry, Patrick has always searched for more to accomplish. Rarely working less than two jobs at any one time, Patrick's energy and fondness for people contributed to his success in working with and meeting the public. This personable attitude and hardworking focus has naturally brought Patrick into the realm of public service.

Patrick learned the importance of good management skills at a young age and has since worked on improving these skills. His loyalty to his employees has helped him maintain a devoted staff for many years. It is this type of commitment and reliability that Patrick brings to politics and that makes him a distinct candidate.

The Business...

After graduating from Evan Hardy Collegiate in 1983, Patrick established a used furniture store. Wolfe Home Furnishings was financed with money earned as a restaurant waiter and other entrepreneurial ventures. Patrick became the full owner of Wolfe Home Furnishings in 1989 and continues to own and operate this successful business today. From his original business evolved two additional companies called Action Appliance Repair and World-Wide Paints. In 1987 Patrick purchased his first real estate investment, and subsequently expanded his portfolio to focus on commercial property redevelopment.

Patrick has succeeded as a small business owner for two decades despite the unique challenges that every businessperson faces. He has persevered and created a successful retail store and real estate portfolio through hard work and business savvy.

Patrick’s interpersonal skills have been honed through his commitment to life-long learning. His involvement in Toastmasters International and other public projects demonstrate the necessary passion, energy needed in a leadership role.

Personal History...

Patrick’s ancestors came to Canada from France, Ireland and the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, which is now modern-day Ukraine. His parents, Arnold Wolfe and Ethel Kennedy, were married in 1949 and moved to Saskatoon soon after. Patrick was born in 1965 and is the youngest of 4 children. He grew up in Nutana in Saskatoon. Patrick attended St. Joseph Elementary School located on Broadway, now known as Joe Duquette High School. In 1973 Patrick’s family moved to Simpson Crescent in Greystone Heights, where his parents still reside. He attended St. Patrick Elementary School, Evan Hardy Collegiate and University of Quebec.
